Birthday card

This is always such a hectic time of year, and just to add to the craziness, my little brother has his birthday on Dec 22nd. He turns 40 this year....I'm not sure how that can be, since I'm only 35 LOL.... ;o)
We're very close, and I wanted to make him a special card this year to let him know how much he means to me. I used this adorable Mo Manning image called Bethy's Wagon (thanks Cheri for putting it together for me) and 'borrowed' the sentiment from a card I saw at the store one day...changing it a tiny bit to fit my card. Paper is Cambridge Chess by Bo Bunny and embellishments are Tim Holtz.

Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree

Ok...this card was meant to be for the Simply Betty Challenge Day 7 of the 12 Days of Christmas, but I literally missed posting by minutes. DANG!
Anyways, the challenge was to use one of her Emos and the colour combo lime green, purple and turquoise in a card. I was so excited to be able to use my Bo Bunny Winter Joy paper for this which is those very colours! I used Rio and London Emos to decortate the tree.
Thanks for looking.

ON THE SECOND DAY OF CHRISTMAS

Well, on to Day 2 at Simply Betty Stamps and this time the inspiration was The Grinch!
I've been dying to use Elfin Miller on a card (I love the shocked look on his face) and thought he'd be a perfect fit for this one.
I added one of my favourite quotes from the book and the red bling heart to finish him off.

Day 1 of 12 Days of Christmas

Over at Simply Betty Challenges, they are doing the 12 Days of Christmas...with a Twist! lol
Day 1 challenge was to use any Simply Betty Stamps Halloween image and create a Christmas card with it.
Now, to be honest, I came close to passing on this challenge, thinking it would be too difficult, but I brainstormed a bit, and this is what I came up with.
I coloured Witch Betty in red and Green, used a snow marker and actual cocoa to try and make it look like she was brewing hot chocolate in her cauldron and then gave her a big old candycane as a stir stick. The sentiment is from a Hero Arts stamp, but it was way too big for the card, so I typed it out on my computer. Papers are Cocoa by Upsydaisy and Royal Bliss by Sassafrass Lass, and a few little Bella Baubles finished it off.
Can't wait for Day 2 Challenge!

Sketch Challenge

I may be getting the hang of this blog thing...I'm trying anyways.  There are just so many challenges out there that I'd like to participate in....I need a time machine or something to keep up. Anyways....

This week's challenge at Stamptacular Sunday was to use this great Sketch by Cheri (Graphicat).

I used my favourite MFT stamp called 'Merry Christmas?', coloured with Copics, paper by K&Company, covered the martini glass with Glossy Accents, then added a few gems to finish off the tree.

STAMPTACULAR SUNDAY CHALLENGE #84

This week's challenge was called Design Team Inspiration, and we were to choose one of the projects of the design team members and use them as our inspiraton. There was alot of great ideas there, but I love sketches, so I went with Cheri's.
I also decided to break away from my always traditional Christmas card colours of red, green and gold and challenge myself by using shades of blue. I seem to have accumulated quite the collection of Whipper Snapper snowmen stamps (I used Snowtime for this card) and have fallen head over heals in love with the Bo Bunny Midnight Frost line....I put them together and this was my take on Cheri's sketch.
Thanks for the great challenge!

Now for the deets...I used imaginisce 'Swirly Snowflakes' and Reminisce 'Frosted Forest' papers, the Becky image by Simply Betty, coloured with Copics, and a few embellishments by Making Memories.

Halloween card

I started this blog, then it seems that I dropped off the face of the earth. Really I just got swamped with family visiting, Thanksgiving, a cousin's wedding and life in general. I also have to admit that I am not a very organized person, so trying to consistently get things posted here is going to be a major challenge for me. I have still been making cards, but haven't been able to take a good picture so I can post them. I played around with camera and lamp tonight and got this one done, and will try to post the others soon. This one isn't for any challenge, just one that I made up for a friend.
I used my favourite Simply Betty Stamp Devil Rio, paper by Creative Imaginations and the dies are all cut with my Slice (Spellbound cartridge) and Cricut (October 31st cartridge).

Trick or Treat

So, it's the Second Day of Halloween at Simply Betty Challenges and this time it was to include 2 Trick or Treaters.
For this one I used my Stampin Up 'Tableau of Terror' stamp for the trick or treaters,  October 31st Cricut cartridge for the tree, sign and pumpkins. Papers by Reminisce and Graphic 45, and a little black Glitter Ritz to help the tree 'pop'.
I'm having so much fun with this Halloween challenge, and am totally blown away with the other entries. I look forward to seeing everyone's projects for the Third Day.

Fright Night

Call me crazy...my very first blog entry is also for my very first challenge participation....which happens to be the Simply Betty Stamps 12 Days of Halloween. What was I thinking taking it on??? Well, it's my love of Halloween that lured me into it...that and my BFF ;o)  She encouraged me to make a blog to share my cards, and so here goes.....
On the first day of Halloween my goul gave to me...one smiling skellington head. The challenge is to incorporate one or more skeletons in your project.  I decided to break-in my new Cricut cartridge called October 31st for this, and wow! I loved using it! The skeleton, window/shutters and spider & web were all cut with it. The background is made with the Tim Holtz Bricked embossing folder, then distressed. And the ghosts and cat are cut from scrap halloween ribbon I had.
